The Worst Thing About Every MCU Film

Even the biggest comic fans have to admit that the MCU is far from perfect.

Upon reflection, it is self-evident that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is an utter triumph. Movie crossovers and shared universes have been around since 1943's Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man but nothing had ever been attempted on the same scale as the MCU.

Considering the entire franchise could've collapsed from a single misstep makes it all the more impressive that this box-office juggernaut is still going strong after twelve years and twenty-three entries. (By comparison, the Dark Universe couldn't manage to do one film right!)

Now, just because Marvel's biggest gamble is a smashing success doesn't mean it's perfect. Far from it. A lot of the early entries are good but not great and it's common knowledge that the MCU had a serious problem with its villains until recently. Also, is Marvel Studios under the impression audiences like faceless armies? If they are, why do they keep putting them in their movies?

These criticisms shouldn't take away from the marvel that is Marvel. What they achieved is unprecedented. But by pointing out their flaws, it shows that there is always room for improvement.

23. The Final Battle - Iron Man

As a movie, Iron Man had the hardest job since it had to launch a cinematic universe. If it didn't win over the critics or the box office, the MCU could've ended then and there. Thankfully, it was a spectacular opening to a franchise, mainly because of flawless casting of Robert Downey Jr. as the titular tin man.

But because of its legacy as the MCU's stepping stone, Iron Man is often misremembered as a visionary masterpiece. As entertaining as the film is, the climax is just two CGI robots bashing each other in pitch black. The brawl is so dark and generic, if feels like a poor-man's Transformers.

Marvel may be known for its quippy banter but this finale has the villain churning out direlogue like "Nothing will stand in my way!" and "Consider that collateral damage". If you watched this forgettable scene out of context, you would be baffled to learn it was this conclusion of the tentpole film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
