One huge rumour flying around this years Comic Con (where Marvel announced the films full title), was that Charlize Theron was tipped to play Enchantress, an Asgardian Goddess who has been both an ally and an enemy of Thor in the comics. Having proved an impressive villainess in
Snow White & the Huntsman earlier this year, Therons involvement may have been more likely when her
Monster director Patty Jenkins was attached to the film, and as of yet, theres been no official word. Enchantress is often paired with Skurge the Executioner, who, in an episode of
The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, accompanies Enchantress when she goes to the Isle of Silence to free Loki from imprisonment, which could be a cool story point in the sequel. Mads Mikkelsens initial attachment strengthened rumours that the character might play a part, until a scheduling conflict removed Mikkelsen from the proceedings.
