8. A Future Threat
With Iron Man 3 approaching, it would be unlikely that Marvel wouldnt want a third
Thor film after
The Dark World. Thors rogues gallery gives Marvel a great deal of choice when it comes to a potential third outing for the God of Thunder, but which villain to choose? Given Lokis role in the films, it would make sense to set up the character Hela, daughter of Loki and the Norse Goddess of Death. Or, with Malekith's presence in
The Dark World, we may be seeing the Fire Giant Surtur pose a future threat to Asgard. Personally, Id want to see Mephisto, Marvels demonic Lord of Hell. Originally appearing in
The Silver Surfer comics, Mephisto has appeared in
Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Thor and a host of Marvels titles, at one point coming to Earth to eat peoples souls a storyline which could see Thor return to save his adopted home planet (he also, at one point, fought Thanos for control of the Infinity Gauntlet, which could provide a good story for a future
Avengers film). The character was played by Ciaran Hinds in
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
