Thor: Love And Thunder - 9 Villains Christian Bale Could Play

8. Ulik

Christian Bale Mephisto
Marvel Comics

Ulik may not have the brains, tricks, or magic of Hela, Loki, or Malekith, but he's got the brawn, raw strength, and sheer reckless abandon needed to pose a physical threat to Thor. In many ways, Ulik is a mirror image of the man Thor used to be: an over-eager dummy, driven to acts of poorly thought-out valor by a pride-centric warrior's ego.

The greatest of the Rock Trolls, Ulik is an exceptional hand-to-hand combatant in his own right. His raw strength is amplified by his go-to weapons: a pair of brass knuckle-like contraptions, both made of uru metal, the same substance of which Mjolnir is composed.

If Waititi is going for comedic effect, a proud, chest-pounding, overzealous troll absolutely hammering Chris Hemsworth into the ground would draw a few chuckles, if only because it's easy slapstick. Thematically, though, we could see Jane -- a fledgling demigod, herself -- going up against a representation of Thor at his worst, before he learned humility and restraint.

Ulik could act as an sobering, embarrassing reminder to Thor of how foolish he once was, and as a cautionary tale for Jane, showing her how not to conduct herself as a superpowered being.
