Thor: Love & Thunder - Everything You Need To Know About Gorr The God Butcher
3. He Caused Thor To Be Unworthy
With no more fear of eternal damnation, and no more hatred between believers of rival religions, people could instead put their faith in each other, and actually appreciate the little time they had instead of believing in eternity. It’s quite an eloquent point to be made by a murderous madman.
Even after Gorr was defeated, his words had an impact on the God of Thunder. Thor was already doubting himself and his fellow deities, beginning to believe that maybe Gorr had a point. Maybe it was time for the gods to step aside for a while.
While this didn't stop him from fighting Gorr and his unparalleled Godbomb, the god butcher now essentially lived in Thor's head rent-free.
Later, during the Original Sin event in which the Watcher's secrets were spilled at the point of his death, Nick Fury whispered something to Thor that immediately made him incapable of lifting Mjolnir. It was eventually revealed that the three little words that completely turned the God of Thunder’s life upside down were simply “Gorr was right”. This is what led to Thor’s hammer being stranded on the Moon until it could be wielded by Jane Foster.
