Thor Ragnarok: 10 Big Questions From What We Know So Far

7. Who Is Cate Blanchett Playing?

Cate Blanchett is said to be circling a role in Thor: Ragnarok. It sounds like the franchise will be adding another strong female character, then, to join to its already-impressive ranks of Jane Foster, Lady Sif and Thor€™s dearly-departed mum Frigga (and Lorelei, if she does end up transitioning to the filmic realm). One of the big questions surrounding the film is this: which Marvel character Cate Blanchett is in talks to play? The top rumour is Hela, the ruler of Hel €“ the realm of the dead. Geek.com reckon she€™ll have the power over the dead souls of the Nine Realms, and will be in cahoots with Loki. Another popular guess for Blanchett€™s Ragnarok role is Amora the Enchantress (not to be confused with the DC Enchantress being played by Cara Delevingne in Suicide Squad). Marvel€™s Enchantress is a sister to the aforementioned Lorelei, and also possesses the power to control men. She can even turn blokes into trees of statues with a kiss, and she possesses powerful sorcery abilities too. Either way, it sounds like Blanchett will be on the side of the baddies in Thor: Ragnarok. Some speculators even think she€™ll play an important role in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, which seems plausible. If Marvel could snare a 2016 Oscar-nominee for a role, they€™d surely want to squeeze as many films out of them as possible.
