Thor: Ragnarok Trailer - 9 Big Questions We're Left With

4. What's Loki Up To?

Loki pops up a couple of times in the trailer (our first glimpse of him is easy to miss - he's stood next to Thor in the alleyway, right before the pair get blasted away by the destruction of Mjolnir) and the situations he appears in pose a multitude of questions.

His biggest moment comes toward the end of the trailer where he's seen wielding a pair of daggers, his expression utterly focused like he's heading right into a fight. But where does this take place, who is he fighting, and why is there a crowd of people in the background, cowering in fear?

The surrounding architecture indicates that this is Asgard, so perhaps he's about to battle Hela and her minions, to try and stop them wreaking havoc on the city/to try and take back control of the city? That would mean the fearful civilians are Asgardians, but that still doesn't explain Loki's friends.

The two warriors flanking him are dressed in a similar garb to the scavengers who trap Thor in a net on Sakaar, and the fact that Loki seems to be allied with Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster (seen in the shot below) could indicate that the trickster has been granted use of Grandmaster's warriors as part of their deal.

The fact that the pair are in cohorts is also intriguing. How did Loki come to be on the planet, and why wasn't he forced to fight like his brother?

One potential scenario is that Loki is trying to free Thor because the people of Asgard need him, and he made some sort of bargain with Grandmaster to help fulfil that end.

But who knows. We'll have to wait until October to find out!
