20 Movies and TV Shows That Made Actors QUIT Genres
8. Richard Gere - The Jackal
There's something of a trend in the film and TV industry today heavily revolving around remakes and legacy sequels, with studios and actors alike looking to revisit their past.
The 1997 thriller, The Jackal, saw Bruce Willis go up against Richard Gere during the peak years of the latter's career, off the back of the likes of Pretty Woman and Primal Fear, and just two years away from seeing him named People Magazine's Sexiest Man of the Year. Though the movie has seen a remake series of sorts starring Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch, it is not something Gere himself would ever want to return to.
In a 2010 interview, while looking back at his career, what he'd achieved and what he'd not yet done, he said that he had no interest in any more violent action films.
Though claiming that he was happy with his work on the picture, as Declan Mulqueen opposite Willis' Jackal, it crossed a line for him in terms of violence, though it is arguably rather tame by the standards of today's era of action. Still, this has turned him off making anything else similar in the future.
