20 Movies and TV Shows That Made Actors QUIT Genres

7. Milly Alcock - House Of The Dragon

The first ever spin-off from Game of Thrones was always going to have a lot of eyes on it, with cast and crew alike thrown into the spotlight, including Supergirl actor Milly Alcock. The young actor portrayed Rhaenyra Targaryen for the first five episodes of the show, before a big time jump saw the character subsequently played by Emma D'Arcy.

It's no exaggeration to say that Alcock absolutely nailed the role, and has been rewarded in the years since with starring opposite Julianne Moore on Sirens, and of course becoming Supergirl in the new DCU. She has strapped a rocket to her career, and is not looking back.

Though House of the Dragon is where Alcock burst onto the scene, she has said categorically that she is done working in the world of fantasy. Her take on the subject is that she has had her experience in that particular arena, and doesn't need to do it again.

It's a commendable take on the sort of freedom an actor can allow themselves when selecting their roles, particularly at such a young age, though since her interview with Herald Sun she has returned to Westeros for a cameo in season two. It would seem that her refusal to work in the fantasy genre again is applicable to any and all roles outside that of Rhaenyra, and it will be interesting to see if there is a season three return on the horizon.
