20 Movies and TV Shows That Made Actors QUIT Genres

3. Jamie Lee Curtis - Halloween 2

There are some familial movie castings that seem like no-brainers, but never happened. Jared Harris, son of the original Dumbledore Richard Harris, would have made a far better choice to play the character in the Fantastic Beasts franchise than Jude Law, and while Ralph Fiennes will certainly do a fine job as a younger version of Donald Sutherland's President Snow, why on Earth isn't it Kiefer steeping into his father's shoes for Sunrise on the Reaping?

Another of these castings that seemed like it would have been a slam dunk is Jamie Lee Curtis as Mary Loomis in Psycho 2, since the character was the niece of the infamous shower scene victim, Marion Crane, played by Jamie Lee Curtis' mother.

However, Curtis flat out turned down the role. Already a certified iconic scream queen after appearing twice as Laurie Strode, she decided to quit the world of horror after Halloween 2 for fear of being typecast in the same or similar role for the rest of her career.

Of course, she has gone on to play Laurie multiple times since, though has had a rocky relationship with the Halloween franchise, stepping away before coming back and ultimately asking for her character to be killed. She may have gently dipped a toe in the genre over the subsequent years, but never in the same way as with Laurie Strode, or as what the role of Mary Loomis would have been.
