Top 20 James Bond Moments

4. Bond's Armour is Stripped (Casino Royale, 2006)

"Casino Royale," As part of being a reinvention of the Bond franchise, is a love story. After they escape from being nearly killed by Le Chiffre, Bond realizes how much Vesper means to him. "You've got your armour back on" she tells him, but Bond admits: "I have no armour left. You've stripped it from me. Whatever is left of me - whatever is left of me - whatever I am - I'm yours." It's an incredibly vulnerable moment for Bond. It shows that, like in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," that Bond is willing to give up his profession for someone, that he wants to keep some part of his soul intact. Tragically, Vesper, because her boyfriend was kidnapped, betrays Bond by stealing the money won at the poker game. During a climatic battle with the villains, Vesper kills herself. After her death, Bond learns his most important lesson: trust no one- and keep your armour on.

3. Saunders is Killed (The Living Daylights, 1987)

Bond (Timothy Dalton) and agent Saunders (Thomas Wheatley) didn't get along when they first met in the pre-title sequence. He felt Bond was more interested in girls than the mission and was angry when Bond deliberately missed the shot when firing at a sniper, Kara Milovy (Maryam d'Abo). Later on, when Saunders provides some information to Bond, Bond tells him "Thanks." Saunders smiles and in that moment both seem to be saying, "Hey you're okay." Saunders is then killed by the assassin Necros (Andreas Wisniewski), for which Bond swears revenge. Bond's anger over Saunders' death shows that while Bond began to see Saunders as a true ally and maybe even a friend.
