20 Upcoming Horror Movies That Are Already DOOMED
18. Dead by Daylight
It was probably just a matter of time before a horror video game as popular as Dead by Daylight got its own movie adaptation, and indeed, it was recently confirmed that director Thordur Palsson (The Damned) will be helming the Blumhouse-produced film.
Dead by Daylight is credited with popularising the asymmetric multiplayer survival horror formula that's grown increasingly popular over the past decade, with one player taking control of a serial killer while the other four players are cast as their potential victims.
As beloved as the game and its wider lore are, the rather threadbare central story doesn't seem like a natural fit for a movie, and so it's far more likely this film will go the direction of the recent Until Dawn adaptation by effectively using the Dead by Daylight branding to tell an original-ish horror story.
It's also worth noting that so much of Dead by Daylight's popularity stems from its incredible tie-ins with classic horror IP, which it's fair to assume won't be replicated here.
At which point, it's easy to assume that this movie will be an adaptation in name only, which is sure to leave most fans utterly uninterested.
