Eli Roth's Thanksgiving is one of the more pleasantly surprising horror films of recent years - an adaptation of a fake trailer produced way back in 2007 that actually delivered the goods, while also proving enough of a box office success for a sequel to be swiftly announced.
It was assumed that Roth would get Thanksgiving 2 before cameras in short order, but almost three years since the original film's release, it still hasn't started shooting.
That's basically aeons in the slasher film world, and said to be a result of stars Addison Rae and Milo Manheim being committed to other projects.
This is really a sequel that needed to strike while the iron is hot, and if Thanksgiving 2 doesn't start filming within the next few months, it likely won't be released until November 2028 - an entire five years since the original.
Couple this with Roth's diminishing stock in the industry, exemplified by his recent dud Ice Cream Man, and it feels like the window for Thanksgiving 2 to hit with full force has already passed. This needed to be out by November 2025 at the latest, really.
