20 Upcoming Movies Absolutely NOBODY Wants
13. Kick-Ass Reboot
As entertaining as Matthew Vaughn's original Kick-Ass adaptation is, it feels like the window has long passed for a continuation of the gloriously self-aware, ultra-violent comic book franchise.
Kick-Ass 2 was a critical and commercial disappointment in 2013, after which plans for a threequel were largely put on ice, but in 2021 Vaughn confirmed plans to reboot the series when the rights reverted to him in 2023.
Vaughn's strange reboot plan involved a quartet of Kick-Ass-adjacent films, only the fourth of which would actually be a legit reimagining of Kick-Ass.
In fact the second film in the trilogy, Stuntnuts Does School Fight, was shot way back in 2021, while the first, Stuntnuts: The Movie, was confusingly shot second in late 2023.
As of 2026 neither has been released yet, but a third called Stuntnuts Does Shiver is already in development, and another is expected to simply be called Kick-Ass.
Even if any of this sounded promising, what a headache.
Vaughn's last three movies suggest he's lost the sauce that made him a household name in the first place, and in an era where gory, meta comic book movies are far more common, is anyone still going to care about Kick-Ass?
