5. Alvin & The Chipmunks Reboot
The live-action Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise had a good run, releasing four movies between 2007 and 2015 which grossed almost $1.4 billion combined.
The softer performance of 2015's most recent film, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, put the kibosh on plans for a fifth, and that seemed like an absolutely fine outcome for a quartet of mostly terrible family comedies.
But an IP as huge as the Chipmunks was never going to stay gone, and so of course in July it was confirmed that a new live-action movie was in the works.
The film is being fast-tracked for a late 2028 release to coincide with the IP's 70th anniversary, but is there really a great hunger to see more Alvin and the Chipmunks movies?
The previous live-action run isn't exactly fondly remembered today - or remembered much at all, honestly - but as ever, it's the money that does the talking.
