What A Hardcore Uncharted Fan Thinks Of The Uncharted Movie

1. A Sequel Needs To Happen - And Neil Druckmann Should Write It

As mixed as I was on this movie, I didn't hate it. Now that the origin story is out of the way (and Nate and Sully feel more akin to the duo from the games), I actually hope we see a sequel that capitalizes on that mid-credits tease.

And if a sequel does happen, you know who should write it? Uncharted 2 lead designer, The Last Of Us creator, and Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann.

First off, the script for the first movie is frustratingly weak. There's very little tension, the Chloe twist wasn't surprising in the least, the puzzles are dull, and the villains are a total letdown. It's a surprise, considering that seasoned screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway - who wrote the first Iron Man - were involved, alongside Agents Of SHIELD and The Wheel Of Time scribe Rafe Lee Judkins. Is this really the best that these Hollywood veterans can do?

If so, then there's absolutely no reason to not give Druckmann a shot. For starters, he'd have the fan vote, and that goodwill would prove invaluable considering the mixed response to the first film. But more importantly, he's a bloody good writer, one who's proven himself capable of crafting cinematic stories full of heart, tension, and great action.

Plus, Druckmann has written and directed episodes of the upcoming Last Of Us TV show, so he's definitely primed to tackle a movie script.

Basically, he's the perfect choice, and the prospect of him signing on is enough to make me pray to Shambhala that the first film has a lucrative box-office run.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
