Wonder Woman: 10 Major DCEU Problems It Fixed
2. It Has Fantastic Pacing
By far one of the single biggest faults of the previous DCEU films is how terribly they were paced. You have Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, which dragged to the point where it became a chore to sit through. Then, you have Suicide Squad, in which the vapid elements of the film were over exposed and dwelled upon, whereas the elements that were actually interesting and should have been given special attention were glossed over.
Wonder Woman contrasts this by being what can honestly be considered a perfectly paced film from its beginning to its end. It said everything it had to say in a way that was concise when it needed to be so as to not feel drawn out, but also ultimately fulfilling. We see the narrative unfold at a comfortable pace that never once feels like it's going on for too long, even in spite of the film's runtime. In turn, the movie never lets the immersion break as they are constantly contributing to the overarching narrative to keep people engaged.
This movie should also be considered the standard of how to time out a superhero origin story. Throughout the narrative, we constantly see Diana become Wonder Woman. There's a constant underlying build-up to her finally dawning her iconic outfit, with a satisfying pay-off when the moment finally comes about halfway through the film. As opposed to Man of Steel, where Clark Kent is already Superman no more than twenty minutes in.
