8. The Supporting Cast Is Mixed

The film boasts two great leads in Gadot and Pine, but it also has a strong bench of supporting talent, including Robin Wright's General Antiope, Connie Neilsen's Queen Hippolyta, a pair of Steve Trevor's allies, Sameer and Charlie, played by Saïd Taghmaoui and Ewan Bremner respectively, and Trevor's secretary, Etta Candy, played by Lucy Davis.

With a fair bit to juggle, then (that list doesn't include the villains), it's perhaps not a major surprise that some supporting players are better served than others. IGN writes:

"Wright’s Antiope does a lot with her few scenes, conveying that she is the most fearsome lady in the land whose heart can nevertheless be warmed by the rambunctious Diana. As Queen Hippolyta, Nielsen’s balance of strength and empathy play well against Diana’s brash nature."

However, Metro US says the movie "proceeds to largely waste the great actors Said Taghmaoui and Ewen Bremner." To this, Variety notes "...a trio of comic-relief comrades (Said Taghmaoui, Ewen Bremner, Eugene Brave Rock) don’t add nearly enough to justify their long-windup introduction."
