We've glimpsed a fair bit of the action in the Wonder Woman trailers, which did a good job of showcasing the various fight scenes - and plenty of slo-mo - we can expect from the movie. According to the reviews, the film largely delivers on the action front, though it is a little mixed at times.

Den of Geek single out the first fight between the Amazons and Germans, calling it "dazzling", and point out that "the action sequences are universally excellent."

The Telegraph call the action "thrillingly designed and staged", while Variety offer a lot of praise for one particular Diana sequence, writing:

"When [Diana] finally unleashes her full fighting potential in an extended battle sequence on the front lines, the movie comes alive in a genuinely exhilarating whirl of slow-motion mayhem, and Diana’s personality is never lost amid all the choreography."

There are some criticisms of the action too, though. As I'll get to in more detail later, the third act has issues, while IGN refer to the action scenes as lacking focus and being "hard to follow", adding that it "isn’t as sharp as it should be."

The Guardian, referring to the aforementioned Amazons v Germans battle, say it's "one of the most agreeably bizarre action scenes ever staged," and complain that much of the action sequences "jerk between speeded-up and slowed-down to catch every detail of her defence-based fighting style and flawless, mud-free complexion." They also state that "poor Diana has been reduced to a weaponised Smurfette," which seems a pretty bizarre comment.
