The DCEU has been, depending on your perspective and mileage, either dark and gritty or just pretty grim. Whether you're a fan or not, there's not much denying that humour hasn't been a big focal point of this world, but that's something Wonder Woman is looking to change. And, if the reviews are anything to go by, it's certainly succeeded.

Empire make note of both Pine's "Kirkian deadpan humour" and how funny Gadot is, "particularly when she goes full bumbling Clark Kent." This is echoed by Screen Rant, who say that "it’s perhaps [Gadot's] fish-out-of-water humor that stands out most."

Screen Crush call it "funny", and Uproxx say it's "a DC movie with real warmth and humor," and also note how much of that comes from the banter between Gadot and Pine.

This is something THR point out as well, writing: "It’s intermittently spot-on, particularly in the pops of humor and romance between the exotically kick-ass yet approachable Gadot and the supremely charismatic Chris Pine."
