X-Men: Apocalypse - 10 Things From The Comics That Could Feature
3. Archangel
Weve already seen Angel in the X-Men movies. In X-Men: The Last Stand, Ben Foster played Warren Worthington III in what was essentially a glorified cameo. For all the build-up in the pre-release of The Last Stand with Warrens father being behind the cure, it came as a surprise how little impact Angel had on pretty much anything that happened in that movie. But now weve got Apocalypse, a villain who made his debut in the pages of X-Factor, which at the time was a book focusing on the original five X-Men. During the Mutant Massacre (theres another connection), Warren was nearly killed by the Marauders. His wings were amputated, but then he was given a chance to be restored by Apocalypse. And Apocalypse did give Warren back his wings, except now they were razor-sharp and capable of firing paralyzing flechettes. Warren became Apocalypses Horseman, Death. He was freed from the brainwashing by his teammates, but the damage had been done and he remained transformed for years after, taking on the name Archangel. Although Warren was eventually transformed back and regained his feathered wings, he was still infected by Apocalypses technology. And in the pages of X-Force, it was revealed that Warren could transform back into Archangel. This also led to one of the best X-Men stories in recent history, The Dark Angel Saga. Fox does want an X-Force spin-off film, so introducing Archangel could lead up to that in the future, and potentially a Dark Angel Saga adaptation.
