X-Men: Apocalypse - 12 Big Questions That Still Need Answering

4. How Will The Production Design Differ From Days Of Future Past?

Twentieth Century FoxTwentieth Century FoxDays Of Future Past€™s dystopian future was horrific. A bleak, grey relentless stretch littered with sharp cliff crags and those harbingers of doom, the Sentinels, breaching the canvas of clouds every few minutes. If Apocalypse is to wreak his havoc, take control of the world, and confront the X-Men - just how will the producers take the devastation into new frontiers? They€™re unlikely to tread in the same territory: creating that unimaginable hell was impressive, but it wasn€™t relatable. There were no ruined landmarks to act as benchmarks for comparison. Some of cinema€™s best stabs at constructing a hideous world ruined by nuclear war, zombie apocalypses, and alien invasions have all hit the audience right where they live. It€™s a way to garner and guarantee an emotional response in a cinemagoer - to witness the mingling of the film€™s world with our world. Basically, loads of national monuments getting blown to smithereens. Hey, it€™s a way for us to relate. It€™d be expected, depending on the storyline they opt to adapt, that Apocalypse€™s trail of destruction will encompass the entire globe. One story thread that€™d allow for some European madness to ensue would be The Amazing X-Men, which has Quicksilver leading a team across the continent to help free humans. Wider scope, more chances to show off Apocalypse€™s world domination plans.
