X-Men: Apocalypse Trailer - 8 Major Revelations From Bryan Singer's Q&A

4. Magneto's Crisis Of Faith

We've heard in the past that Magneto has gone into hiding when X-Men: Apocalypse begins (a baffling creative decision when you consider where we left things with him) because he's found a family. However, their deaths leave him distraught, and that's when the movie's titular villain comes calling to enlist perhaps the world's most powerful mutants as one of his Four Horsemen. Why though would someone like Erik go from leader to follower? "He€™s found Erik at the most vulnerable place in his life," explains Singer. "He€™s searching for God. Remember, he was a young Jew in a concentration camp when he first lost his family and now here comes this man who was, is, or claims to be God. The power of persuasion is Apocalypse€™s greatest power." Those comments quite possible debunk the popular theory that Apocalypse has his Horsemen under his control, something which Singer emphasised while touching on what brings Storm to his side. When they first cross paths, she's apparently disillusioned, disenfranchised and, just like in the comic books, "looking for a mother and a father and the village she lost."
