X-Men Movies: 15 Moments That Pissed Off Every Fan

8. Xavier's Resurrection - X-Men: The Last Stand & Days Of Future Past

One of the messiest plot threads in the X-Men movies is the death and eventual resurrection of Professor Xavier. He's killed by Jean Grey in The Last Stand, though is alive and well again in Days of Future Past without much of an explanation. Yes, the post-credits scene of The Last Stand did show a comatose patient speaking to Moira with Xavier's voice, and the movie's DVD commentary has one of the writers explain that the patient was Xavier's twin brother, hence why Xavier still looks like Patrick Stewart...but is that really good enough? Even if we consider this as canon, it's all rather awkward, as Bryan Singer simply opted not to confirm this in Days of Future Past, hoping we'd forget or just be willing to pretend that The Last Stand never happened. It still doesn't explain why Xavier's in a hoverchair, though, because presumably his twin brother wasn't paralysed. There's really no consistency at all here, though at least the entire thing has been wiped out by Days of Future Past's reboot, so now the filmmakers can just decide whatever they want.
