X-Men: Supernova - 10 Big Questions We Need Answering

7. When Will It Be Set?

"The next one is set in the 90s", Simon Kinberg told ComingSoon.net during the publicity tour for Apocalypse. Following the pattern of the last few X-Men movies, Supernova will be another period piece that resumes the story a decade after the previous film's events. That is, unless the plans have changed majorly since Kinberg gave that interview.

Fans of the 1992-1997 X-Men animated series will have a lot of questions about the prospect of a 90s-set X-Men movie. Will Jubilee have a hugely expanded role? Will we get to see Storm's wacky white costume? Will there be red X badges on everything? Will Wolverine don his iconic yellow threads? Will Gambit flirt outrageously in inappropriate situations? And could Rogue be in it?

Sadly, some of those answers won't be the ones fans want. Hugh Jackman seems adamant that he's done with Wolvie after the Logan film, and a Gambit appearance seems unlikely while Channing Tatum is still trying to get his solo movie off the ground. But the Jubilee thing could happen, and the costumes might be brilliant. And they could stick Rogue in it if they wanted - it's not like they've adhered religiously to the original timeline before.
