6. Will There Be A New Mutants Connection?

The New Mutants is an X-Men spinoff film starring new young adult heroes, which The Fault In Our Stars' Josh Boone is helming. According to the same industry websites that broke the Supernova news, its production will start in Montreal in April 2017. That's less than a month before work on Supernova kicks off in the same area. Will these films be connected in some way? It's plausible, that's for sure.

Anya Taylor-Joy (who's rumoured to be playing the magic-wielding inter-dimensional teleporter Magik in The New Mutants) was asked by ComingSoon.com to clarify whether she's involved in the X-spinoff earlier this month. After dodging the question, she said, "I mean, I think James [McAvoy] is already a part of it, isn’t he?"

Was that an innocent assumption or some insider intel she wasn't meant to share? Nobody outside the Fox bubble knows for sure. But either way, the idea sounds feasible. And if McAvoy has signed on to reprise Charles Xavier, perhaps he'll provide some connective tissue between The New Mutants and Supernova. An official press release to clear this all up would be nice.
