X-Men: 9 Things That Must Happen In The Next Film

3. It's Time For Actual Costumes

Whereas most modern superhero films seem to delight in costumes, the X-Men franchise in recent years has practically rallied against them.

Since as far back as the original X-Men released in 2000, the vast majority of the cast end up wearing what look to be military-grade jumpsuits, completely black and uninspiring. What's the reasoning? They're so boring visually and a huge disappointment given the various options from the source material.

Much like the promise that the X-Men are finally a "team" and then failing to deliver, the films have a habit of teasing great costumes and then completely ignoring them, like the deleted scene from The Wolverine which sees Wolverine gifted his brilliant classic suit. Though Apocalypse tease the costumes at the end of the film, we know things can change between films. It's time to carry that promise forward. Compared to the huge abundance of visually interesting superhero costumes currently being used in cinema, it's time for X-Men to catch up and commit from the very start.
