X-Men Apocalypse: 10 Implications For The X-Men Franchise
4. Logan's Lost Years
After Logan is set loose on the Weapon X facility by Jean Grey, he escapes the building and runs away from Alkali Lake to parts unknown. We have no idea where he ends up, but there's obviously a ton of time to fill before Logan first shows up in the original X-Men movie (which is set during 2003). That's 20 years, to be precise.
Now, Hugh Jackman has said that his appearance in next year's The Wolverine 3 will be his final time playing the role, but could he really resist turning down a part in the next X-Men movie?
He said he'd never play Wolverine again, but what about just playing Logan, who perhaps provides the mutants with some quick advice for a brief scene? Jackman wouldn't necessarily need to get in jacked shape for the role, he could probably film the part in a few hours, and collect an easy payday. Everyone wins.
Basically, it's hard to believe the filmmakers won't try to convince Jackman, because leaving two decades of the man's life up in the air just sounds like a wasted opportunity. To see him, wherever he is, in the early 1990s, would certainly be of interest to most audiences.
