X-Men Apocalypse: 11 Biggest Questions Answered

8. Are The Characters Ever Going To Age Properly?

The Question: It became hilariously apparent in X-Men: Apocalypse how the characters aren't really aging at all, considering that First Class came out just 5 years ago, but the canonical time leap between these movies is actually 21 years.

It's vaguely cringe-worthy hearing Mystique tell Jean Grey, "when I was your age", when the two actresses are barely 5 years apart in age, but worst of all is Lucas Till's Havok, who still has a babyface despite apparently being in at least his late-30s. Will the next X-Men movie, which will reportedly be set in the 1990s, finally address this ridiculous discrepancy with some aging makeup?

The Likely Answer: They've gotten away with it for two movies (kinda), so Bryan Singer's probably just going to say, "Deal with it." After all, what's another decade if we've already put up with a 20-year gap?

Given the potential for aging make up to look hilariously awful, not to mention massively time consuming considering the extent to which it would be needed, it's just one of those silly contrivances we'll have to accept to enjoy the films.
