10/10 Video Games Everyone Immediately Forgot About
6. Rayman Legends
Ubisoft is no stranger to mishandling amazing franchises. The likes of Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia and more have been languishing for years now, either sitting out entire generations or being transformed into mainstream-pleasing shells of their former selves.
Why this treatment particularly stings when it comes to Rayman, though, is that the series was on a roll when it was unceremoniously dropped. Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends are some of the highest-rated Ubisoft games ever produced, and completely revolutionised a flagging franchise with creative ideas, tight platforming mechanics and a renewed sense of passion.
Because it wasn't an open world, box-ticking bloatfest though, the publisher was all too content to sweep the titles under the carpet and try to shift players' focus elsewhere. Consequently, in 2023, it's tough to remember that Ubisoft ever made games like this, let alone allowed one of their most beloved franchises to do something so different to their usual formula.
