10 "Next Big Thing" Video Games Nobody Is Playing

2. Watch Dogs

Like Pokemon Go, Watch_Dogs can point to its respectable sales figures as proof positive that ‘no one plays’ is incredibly harsh. The game sold well enough to warrant two sequels, the second of which will be out next year: Watch_Dogs Legion.

However, Watch_Dogs painted itself as a ‘GTA Killer’ one set to revolutionise the open world genre. It was to give you complete control of the universe around you at your fingertips. You were god, creating the world in whatever image you saw fit.

In the end, you could change the traffic lights and set off some steam pipes. Watch_Dogs isn’t here because of monumentally low sales or player activity, but because it fell almost laughably short of being the next big thing.

10 million in sales for a new IP is huge. It makes Watch_Dogs look like an imposter on this list. But it’s less than a third of GTA V’s daily player base of 33 million; a figure they sustained for over a year.
