10 Amazing Pieces Of Video Game Foreshadowing

6. Badge To The Future (Phoenix Wright)

During 'Rise from the Ashes', the stunning additional case in the DS re-release of the first Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright is confronted with his toughest client yet: Lana Skye, a prosecutor immediately resigned to her guilt. Turns out she has a bloody good reason for her fatalistic outlook - she can predict the future.

Throughout the series, the player can present Phoenix's daft 'Attorney's badge' to various witnesses to prove his credentials (though most of them are fooled by a cardboard imitation). There's rarely any point, but in Lana's case, she comes back with this scarily prescient comment:

"The paint's flaking off. Give it three more years. Then we'll see the real you."

Sure enough, three years after 'Rise from the Ashes', Phoenix finds himself disbarred in Ace Attorney 4. Spooky. She was wrong about being guilty, mind.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
