10 Amazing Video Game Sequels That Won Back The Fans
1. Devil May Cry 5
Nobody has quite lost a dedicated audience like Capcom did with Devil May Cry. Their reboot, DmC, was an attempt on their behalf to 'westernise' the popular franchise and - again - bring in even more players (and therefore money), but all it did was make sure those who loved the prior games didn't pay it the time of day.
It didn't help that the game itself actively mocked the past releases as well. It was a well-made actioner, but the general feeling was that it had no reason to exist. DMC 4 didn't stagnate - if anything, it was bolder than ever by introducing a brand new character - but the baby was thrown out with the bathwater when it came to the subsequent redesign.
It took Capcom a little while to respond, but eventually they dropped the reboot idea and released a proper Devil May Cry 5 that returned to the characters everyone loved.
The game itself was bloody good as well, proving the franchise didn't have to change to still be popular.
