Depressing, episodes, minimal gameplay, all words that lead directly into our next entry which could also be described as point-and-click.
This time, however, you have got one absolute banger of a story behind it that is going to make you feel some kind of way. I have never felt more uncomfortable from a video game, and only a few games have had me lying in bed the next week, still thinking, what the fu** just happened in Episode 3?
The story is paced incredibly well, introducing and affirming characters you can genuinely sympathise and relate to, that even change as the game goes on and you make different choices. There are twists, turns and moments that you’ll never forget.
The downside, however, is that there really isn’t a game behind Life Is Strange. You could watch a playthrough online and gain just as much. You play as Max, who wanders around her campus, interacting with people, entities and her environments. In brutal honesty, the gameplay is not engaging.
Somehow, though, it’s still great, if not amazing at what it sets out to do, which is tell a gut wrenching story of choice about a god damn time-travelling college student.
