10 Awesome Boss Battles (That Tragically Never Happened)

7. Jacknife - Mirror's Edge

Mirror's Edge was a breath of fresh air when it first released in 2007. It had a focus on free-form, parkour-inspired gameplay. It took place in a glistening, brightly colored city that reflected the ominous oppression below in a distorted light. It was a nice bit of contrast to the usual dark, bleak dystopias we've come to know. As a 'runner', the player was put in control of the nimble woman known as Faith. Through a series of levels that involved intrigue and betrayal, players were led to understand that it was Jacknife, former runner turned evil mastermind that was causing them all this grief. But through the use of a quicktime event, Jacknife's defeat is handled once again out of player control. Instead of getting the chance to savior beating the crap out of the traitor, a couple quick button presses is all it takes to kick him out of a helicopter. It's a bit of a letdown, considering all the people that Faith cared about being put into danger by this guy. It's irrational to say this wrecks the game, but I think we were all looking forward to giving Jacknife a lot more punishment.
