10 Awesome Boss Battles (That Tragically Never Happened)
8. The Skeleton Wizard - Trine
Trine was a unique 2.5D side-scrolling action game that allowed you to take on the role of three different characters; the Knight, the Wizard and the Thief. They all had different abilities, and you had to make use of all of them if you wanted to complete the game. It was a fun and innovative game, where the three heroes had their souls bound together via a magical artefact. The final level saw the heroes being pursued by the Skeleton Wizard, a fearsome looking enemy who seemed to have unlimited power. It seemed as though it was about to go down, right? Er, no. In fact, you never even get to engage the Skeleton Wizard in combat at all. It's an extended chase level, where he spawns enemies you've fought already. He chases you to the top of a tower, where you find the only way to unbind your souls. With freedom in sight, the big bad of the game closes in. It still isn't time to fight, as he is quickly dispatched in a cut-scene. It's disappointing, and while it doesn't exactly ruin the experience that you've just had, it's a bit deflating that you don't get to take this ugly goon out yourself.
