6. NBA Live Series
Why We Want To Play It:This may be a stretch, but lets put it out there. No NBA Live series, no NBA Street. NBA Street Homecourt came out in 2007 and NBA Live has not had an installment since the release of NBA Live 2010. All four NBA Street games garnered positive reviews (nothing below an 80 on Metacritic for consoles) and a big fanbase. They are also a blast to play! In the past, you chose your side. Live or 2K. But nothing was going to touch NBA Street. It may be selfish to say we want EA to pour millions of dollars into a series that is trailing its competitor by a long shot just so we can get the more arcadey spin-off, but the heart wants what the heart wants.
Why We Never Will:Never is not the proper term here as EA has to come out with an NBA game at some point. 2K Sports has had no competition in the basketball video game market since 2010 and have created a monster with the 2K series. Unless EA plans on buying the NBA license the same way they did the NFL, NCAA, and FIFA licenses, 2K is going to be around. In 2011, the NBA extended their multi-year licensing agreements with both EA and 2K, so for now there is no monopoly. It is also unlikely that 2K could get exclusive rights to the license as the NBA enjoys making money off of both series; but if they did, bye bye NBA Live.
