10 Awesome Video Game Features That Suddenly Went Missing In The Sequel
5. Pokémon Contests - Pokémon Emerald
As much as Pokemon games love to remind you that Pokemon are your friends and companions, it's hard to deny that almost all parts of the series' gameplay revolve around putting your Pokemon into dog fights with other Pokemon.
Of course, dueling random preschoolers and fishermen can be fun, but sometimes you just want to relax with your Pokemon and do something a little less violent.
Well, too bad that one such feature went missing after Pokemon Black and White.
Introduced in the series' third generation, Pokemon Contests were special competitions that offered the player a pleasant alternative to constant fighting and fainting.
The contests were basically beauty pageants where your Pokemon were allowed to use their powers for more than just mindless attacks. Each move was treated as a unique trick your Pokemon could perform for points, and you were even able to set up combos to impress the judges.
Gameplay was surprisingly in-depth, providing trainers with a refreshing break from spamming the attack button and health potions.
The feature was reintroduced briefly in the remakes of Pokemon Sapphire and Ruby, but it's never made another appearance since.
Apparently, it just wasn't violent enough for the Pokemon world's liking.
