2. 1st Person Sports - ESPN NFL 2K5

Here's something neat 2K Sports did with ESPN NFL 2K5 - First Person View mode. In this mode you would play as the selected character in - you guessed it - first-person view, complete with helmet visible in the HUD.

Some sports games do include features that allow you to play in first person as an extra option, but they're usually locked behind menus and cumbersome to unlock or work with. But what if more sports games adopted a first-person view? One of the major drawbacks you usually see in discussion: sports games are boring if you only play as one person, and you have to be restricted to one person in 1st person mode, right?

Wrong! Imagine an American football game where you play in first person as the quarterback. Hike the ball and hit the pass button and you switch to the receiver's view and have to target yourself to catch the ball. It could certainly break up the monotony that some sports games fall into. With VR becoming more readily accessible it could be a great avenue for 1st-person modes in sports games to be more easily accepted.
