10 Awesome Video Game Villains That Died Too Early

4. Sherudo Garo - Time Crisis

Time Crisis Garo
Namco

Namco's Time Crisis is largely credited with popularising the light gun game on home consoles, aided by not only its satisfying gunplay, but also its intentionally campy tone.

This extends to the game's primary antagonist Sherudo Garo, the former dictator of Sercia who kidnaps the president's daughter in an attempt to reinstate his prior dictatorship.

Though Time Crisis is rather light on story, the game's brief cutscenes do a fantastic job of highlighting Garo's Bond villain-inspired silliness: his ridiculous white suit-orange shirt combo, his penchant for throwing knives, and his larger-than-life, William Shatner-esque dialogue delivery.

While Garo seemed primed to be the final boss, he's actually dispatched a good while earlier at the end of the game's second stage, which is roughly half-way through the campaign.

It's an epic death - being gunned down as he attempts to turn the player into a shish-kebab with his knives - but the power vacuum left in his wake is ultimately filled by his right-hand man Wild Dog, who actually serves as Time Crisis' real final boss.
