10 Awesome Video Games That Didn't Get The Credit They Deserved

2. MadWorld (2009)

Oh dear. MadWorld. The poor thing. Designed from the start to be extremely violent and aimed at the more desensitized hardcore gamer, MadWorld was then released exlusively on a console that's aimed directly at children, families and the casual gamer - the Nintendo Wii. Essentially, it was like putting a hardcore porno up for sale in a Disney store. Despite the fact that there have been violent games on the Wii from the beginning, there had been nothing quite on the same scale as MadWorld; as a result, many saw it as the Wii's first truly mature title. As you can imagine, this caused outrage amongst concerned parents worldwide, who'd bought the Wii so that young Johnny could play 'Bunny Hop Adventure' or whatever it is people sit down to play on the Wii. Despite a strong critical reception, the marketplace just didn't want a game as violent as MadWorld which inevitably translated to poor sales (700k as of Nov 2012). Hoever, MadWorld was actually one of the few games I could actually stand on Nintendo's family-friendly console. It was supremely violent, extremely satisfying to play and of course has that superb 'Sin City' style art; all of which I'd say would have been a recipe for success had it enjoyed a multi-platform release. Alas, it didn't and never will and will most likely be all but completely forgotten about once the next generation of gamers come to fruition.
