10 Awesome Video Games That Didn't Get The Credit They Deserved

8. Fable (2004)

In certain circles, the word 'Fable' has become a rather dirty word. According to vgchartz.com, the original Fable has shifted 2.66m copies globally in its life time which is a reasonably moderate performance. But it's nothing on what one would expect in the light of the considerable hype surrounding it prior to its release. The problem here is that its brainchild Peter Molyneux, quite notoriously I might add, grossly over-exaggerated the gamer freedom that Fable would allow for to such a degree that he may as well have been in a pharmacists asking for XXXL condoms. Fable simply did not reconcile with the bold claims that were made of being able to do practically anything you wanted, not to any stretch of the imagination. However, with that all being said, the original Fable was still in my view a pretty great game; much more standard than Molyneux would have led you to believe, but still compelling, graphically stunning and certainly good enough to warrant a second and even maybe a third playthrough. Who knows, if Molyneux had been a little more forthcoming with the truth, maybe so many wouldn't have instantly turned turned their backs to his troubled Action/RPG series.
