10 Awful-Sounding Video Games That (Fortunately) Got Cancelled

2. Gears Of War: Exile

Developer: Epic Games Year of cancellation: 2012 Gears of War has been one of the most consistent AAA series of the last decade, and one of the big success stories of the Xbox 360. The third-person shooter series has managed to sell tens of millions of copies since the original game's release back in 2006, and the next entry is one of the most highly anticipated exclusives for the Xbox One. Despite the phenomenal success of the franchise, Gears of War: Exile was a game that nobody was excited about. Gears of War: Exile was planned to be a Kinect-controlled, on-rails shooter for the Xbox 360. Given the finicky nature of the original Kinect, particularly when it came to anything requiring a level of precision, a shooter based on the console's most beloved franchise just sounded like a terrible move for Epic Games to make. Thankfully, they eventually saw reason and announced Exile's cancellation in 2012.
