10 Bad Video Game Choices That Are Secretly The Best Option
7. Dean Dewey - Fallout 3
In early Fallout games, giving your character low intelligence would present you with additional dialogue options that reflected your less-than-average wits. Unfortunately, most of the time these new dialogue choices would have negative outcomes, such as NPCs ignoring or straight-up attacking you for your incompetence.
For this reason, when you play Fallout 3, you might assume your low intelligence is a curse. And yet there are a few situations where it does the opposite and helps you instead! For example, when interacting with the protectron inside Roosevelt Academy.
The protectron, Dean Dewey, acts as the headmaster of the abandoned school and, when activated, it will demand that the player show it their hall pass. Failing to do so will cause the Dean to attack you unless you trick it with a skill check... or extremely low intelligence.
If you pick the low intelligence option in the dialogue, the dean will not only not attack you, it will also deem you a "special needs student" and personally escort you to the classroom, protecting you from any threat on the way.
You may not be the brightest, but hey! At least you can get a personal robot bodyguard!
