10 Bad Video Game Choices That Are Secretly The Best Option
2. Deathwish - Grand Theft Auto V
The ending of Grand Theft Auto V presents the player with a really tough choice. You have to pick between killing Trevor or Michael or refusing to betray either of them but dooming yourself, and potentially the friends you're trying to protect, to the wrath of the most powerful people in Los Santos.
The game labels the last choice as the Deathwish, implying it will kill Franklin and perhaps everyone else, but despite this colorful name and all of its connotations, it is secretly the best choice to make.
In the Deathwish ending, Franklin, Trevor, and Michael choose to not go down without a fight and eliminate all of their enemies in the city at the same time. The ending is considerably harder to get through than the other two, but it's also the only way to keep all of the protagonists alive and have them remain friends.
This twist in the final choice is well-known by now, but when GTA V just came out, a lot of people fell for the overbearing implications of the Deathwish ending and picked the easier route by killing Michael or Trevor instead.
And then they had to replay the game, realizing they'd sacrificed them for nothing!
