10 Bad Video Games With ONE Great Level

9. Bottom Of The Eighth - Watch Dogs

The opening sequence of Watch Dogs makes a strong case against the Ubisoft open world formula.

Set in a baseball stadium, you guide vigilante protagonist Aidan Pearce as he tracks down a hitman named Maurice, whose attempt on Aidan's life led to the unintended death of his niece, Lena.

After torturing Maurice in a locker room to no avail, Aiden makes his escape through the back areas of the packed stadium. Entering the garage, he encounters his accomplice, Jordi, stuffing a dead body in the trunk of a car. With the game ending and thousands of people about to exit right onto the bloody pair, Jordi calls the cops on himself as a distraction.

Further aided by a hacker who shuts off all power to the stadium, Aidan navigates his way past cops and security guards in the dark to an escape vehicle.

This linear sequence is where the game's hacking and stealth mechanics are best showcased, as it never feels as monotonous as it does in the open world environment. One wonders if Watch Dogs would have been a better game if it were actually more linear.
