10 Beloved Video Game Characters You Hated In The Sequel

2. Jill Valentine - Resident Evil 5

Jill Valentine is an iconic part of the Resident Evil series. She's been a part of the S.T.A.R.S. team since Resident Evil 1, and her transformation from rookie officer to co-founder of a global anti-terrorist agency is fascinating to watch.

Unfortunately, Jill's development stops in Resident Evil 5, a game that reduces her to a mere side character and dooms her to becoming forgotten by the series' creators.

There are plenty of things that went wrong with Resident Evil 5, but perhaps the most damning part of it is what it did to Jill Valentine. The badass special agent gets captured by Albert Wesker, who brainwashes her and turns her into a mutated super soldier.

It doesn't necessarily sound like a terrible plot line, but the way in which it's handled is very sloppy. It made Jill into a silent and obedient soldier with no personality whatsoever. It's really disappointing and predictable, right down to her underwhelming reveal.

However, the worst part of Jill's change in Resident Evil 5 is that her mutation made her an inconvenient character for Resident Evil's horror setting. It's why she never appears in any of the new games.

At this point, a Jill sandwich would've been more preferable.
