10 Best Capcom Games Of The Decade - Ranked

4. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

After Resident Evil 6, the franchise was at a tipping point.

We'd had the more gung-ho delights of Resident Evil 4, boulder-punched our way to disappoint in RE 5, and RE 6 was a straight-up Hollywood action spectacle - only it ended up feeling incredibly off-putting to horror fans in the process.

For RE 7, we found out Capcom were returning to their roots, and the final product feels like a sobering acknowledgement of the past, and where the studio went wrong for so many years.

Here the scares are back in full. The Baker family home's various hidden pathways connote the Spencer Mansion perfectly, and there's a steady ramp-up in empowerment that sees you go from hopeless confused hostage, through to machine gun-toting boss-killer by the time the credits roll.

It's a far shorter, more conservative approach to a main Resident Evil, but it was exactly what the series needed to convince us Capcom still had it.
