"The Mantle of Responsibility for the galaxy shelters all, human. But only the Forerunners are its masters." If you've read the books, then you'll probably feel a little more sympathetic towards the Didact for his reasoning in Halo 4. If you didn't, well, he's not quite as maniacal as you might think . But he's still a loose canon. Remember, the Didact is the embodiment of war. Within Forerunner hierarchy, he's the top dog in the military. Forever. That's his whole thing. In Halo 4, the Didact comes across as a little bit out of touch with a galaxy 100,000 years into the future. Humans have evolved, San 'Shyuum have, well, died off, and Brutes actually use electricity. The result? He's not totally happy with how the galaxy has developed without Forerunner influence. The Reclaimer trilogy, for which we're only a third of the way through, is likely to see the Didact as a primary antagonist, and general pain to deal with.
