4. Wii Sports - Nintendo Wii

It's easy to see what a genius move the release of the Nintendo Wii was in hindsight. It was a console that appealed to a more casual audience when its competition was going after the hardcore, plus it brought enough innovation to the table to really drum up some interest.

One of the key components of that interest was Wii Sports. Ever since its reveal at E3 2006 - where just a simple game between four key Nintendo figures showed this was something worth getting excited about - Wii Sports has been able to make an argument for being the most important game in the console's catalogue.

This was a game that everybody could enjoy. From the little kid first getting to grips with gaming right through to the older person trying to join in with the rest of the family, Wii Sports was accessible, easy to play and - most of all - a ton of fun.

It was exactly what was needed to showcase the Wii and its abilities, and there are currently more than 82 million copies of the game floating around.
